Its finally here!!!!

I am SO very excited to have some news about our mission work!! I received an email earlier this week some information about our job descriptions. I have been waiting to receive this info as it is really pretty important stuff!! Now only does it tell us exactly what we will be doing in Tanzania, but we also need it in order to start our fund raising. We are still waiting for some more information before we begin our fundraising, but for now, im happy with the rough draft of our jobs descriptions!!

So my friends, here it is!!!!
In Tanzania I will-
1-Evaluate and enhance existing afternoon Kindergarten program at Mumba Ministry Campus (Mumba is the village we will be living in)
2-Develop an after school program for local primary students at the Mumba Ministry Campus
3-Learn the realities of both the rural and “in town” orphans and at-risk children and participate in identifying sustainable solutions with plans for implementation

I was so very excited to receive these jobs as I think it will be FANTASTIC!!!! While I am not exactly ummm… qualified for the job, I know that God will lead me in this journey and that through the love of God I will be able to touch these children’s lives and they will touch mine as well!! I wish I could leave tomorrow to go and meet the kids that I will be working with!!
I think I’m most excited for #3. Anyone that knows me knows I’m quite passionate about caring for orphans, and also in preventing children from becoming orphans. While I don’t yet know exactly what the mission has in mind for this task, I can see myself spending time at the orphanage, the village, the town etc. getting to research as much as I possibility can about the orphan situation and coming up with some solutions for caring for the children that are currently orphans, and also helping parents not need to put children into the orphanage, as well as coming up with plans for whatever else seems appropriate.

The wonderful thing about this all is that I have a great network of friends who will be able to help me in ALL these tasks!!! I know many wonderful teachers, mothers, adoptive families, people who care so much about Africa, people who want to do something about orphans etc. I’m so excited for you all to be a part of this with me!!

Matt received a job description as well, and one of these days when he gets a little time in his life (he’s soooo busy right now with work/family and also being in grad school.)

Please continue to pray for our family as we will soon be starting our fundraising. All of our funds need to be raised before we can leave, so it is so very important to pray for this!! We also are going to be working on selling our house and many of our belonging. Please pray for the children that we will be working with that God would be working in their hearts, and their families hearts.

World Aids day. A day late.

So..  while its technically Wednesday, my tuesday hasn’t actually ended yet so im still going to do a world AIDS day post. (World Aids day is Dec 1) In an effort to not bore you with my poor grammer and bad spelling, I thought I would just link a few interesting website relating to World Aids Day.

Up first- What better place to visit than a website totally dedicated to Advocating for Aids orphans.  Click HERE to visit their World Aids day post.  This site often breaks my heart as they post pictures of children from across the globe in need of a family.  I often think ‘I could love that child.’ But….  seeing as how i’m leaving for Tanzania in 9 short months, it is not logical to start an adoption at this point. Not to mention the fact that I now we will meet a number of children in Tanzania who have no family and perhaps God will move us to adopt 1 (or more…) of them!!

Next up- HIV TO HOME- Click HERE,  This blog’s cause is also listed in the blog I posted above, but I wanted you to have the link to the site as well.   I donated my $5 for the day. Did you??  There was once a time where I challenged my blog followers to donate $5. We ended up raising $1700!!!!   It was awesome!! The money went to purchase formula for an orphanage in Tanzania.  It’s proof that $5 really CAN make a big differance.

And finally. The World Aids Day website. Look around. read some stories.  Click HERE

My random thought for the day.  Yesterday I went on a venture to schedule Kia for an HIV test. She has already been tested multiple times, but HIV can sometimes take awhile to show up, so Kia’s Dr. wanted to do one final test to be safe. So, I called the Health Dept and asked about HIV testing, and they said ‘ hold on, we’ll transfer you to the STD dept.’  This struck me as kinda odd.  I realize that HIV can be contracted by  sexual intercourse, but…   on the other hand it can be contracted in a number of other ways as well.  Is it really an STD??   I honestly don’t know if it is ‘actually’ an STD or not, it just caught my attention when I needed to talk to the STD dept about my 2 year old daughter.

And with that thought I leave you until another day :)
